Yiannis Marakakis said that in less than 10 seconds the attacker caught up and stabbed the 58-year-old 15 to 20 times, whom he had previously “pulled away to a secluded spot”

The police have launched a manhunt to locate the man who seriously injured a 58-year-old businessman outside a canteen in Varybompi.

According to the latest update, the 58-year-old has already undergone three operations, while as his lawyer said, Yannis Marakakisspeaking to SKAI, there is yet another operation on the femoral artery where the attacker seriously injured him with a knife.

Mr. Marakakis stated that fortunately the victim escaped the danger to his life.

According to him, the authorities ex officio are looking into all possibilities and not only that of surprise for the waiting line in the canteen, as the severity of the attack shows that maybe it was not something random and circumstantial, but shows the targeting of his customer for another reason .

He noted that the assailant had been in the same bar as his client a short time before the attack, but nothing had happened there, and they had not exchanged words.

When asked if there was alcohol use by the perpetrator’s company, he replied that it had not, however, he added that experience says that people who have gone to eat at such a time after having fun will presumably have consumed alcohol, without this meaning that they were out of control due to alcohol.

Mr. Marakakis added that in less than 10 seconds the attacker caught up and stabbed the 58-year-old 15 to 20 times, whom he had previously “pulled to a secluded spot, put him between two cars, no one was in sight and managed to 15 to 20 blows.”

“The perpetrator had deadly intent and from experience this man had done it before” added Mr. Marakakis.

Finally, he said that there is no question of threats to his client, as his adversaries were urban in nature, and not with underworld people.
