Staikouras: Within the week the KYA for the heating allowance

Unexpectedly, the ministerial decision on the heating allowance will be issued within the week, with the platform opening in November.

Forecast for inflation this year that will tend to 10% will be included in the new budget, while next year it will remain high, but not at this level.

This was stated by Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, speaking to the OPEN television station and commenting on Eurostat’s assessment of harmonized inflation in Greece in October. According to the minister, the slowdown in the rate of inflation “is not something to celebrate” and reiterated that measures are needed at the European level.

Mr. Staikouras stated again that in this particular period the measures announced at the TIF are being implemented and ruled out the existence of Fuel Pass – 3. However, he stated that it is not ruled out that there will be new measures next year depending on the developments. He reiterated, that except for the unexpectedy the KYA for the heating allowance will be issued within the week, with the platform opening in November. And he reminded that the reduced VAT on catering, transport, cinemas, dance schools, etc. continues for another six months
As the minister pointed out, “the swelling of private debt in these crises is a matter of concern” and he emphasized that “it is very important for the country to achieve its fiscal goals”, giving as an example to avoid Britain which was targeted by the markets.
