A 70-year-old contractor was convicted by the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Volos for negligent homicide and violation of the provisions on safety and health specifications at a construction site.

On October 2, 2019, the 70-year-old contractor employed a 41-year-old Albanian in the construction work he was performing. The 41-year-old he lost his balance and fell from the second floor and suffered a brain injury and internal bleeding, resulting in his death.

The 70-year-old in the apology stated that they had taken all the protection measures and the 41-year-old was raped, as a result of which he found himself in a vacuum. At the same time, a colleague of the victim also testified as a witness, who claimed that neither he nor the victim was wearing a seat belt as the contractor had told them, while the 41-year-old attempted to lift an asphalt sheet that had to be lifted by a crane, with causing him to lose his balance and fall into the void.
