It is an elderly couple, from Prosotsani, Drama, who were and have been staying since yesterday at the Loutra Sidirokastro hotel. In fact, it seems that they had used the bathroom both the day before yesterday and the morning before.
The couple were booked to take their bath at 6:45 this afternoon and after half an hour and as part of routine checks it was found that they were not responding to the bath attendant’s signals and then upon opening the door she found that they were unconscious inside in the bathroom.
The attorney of the company of Loutra Sidirokastro, Alexandros Paraskeviotis, categorically stated that the possibility of criminal activity has been ruled out and added: “About 7:30 in the afternoon I was informed by phone by the Director of the Sidirokastro Baths about the fatal event. This is an extremely unpleasant, unexpected and sad event. It is also a completely unexpected and surprising event for us. Nothing like this has ever happened in Loutra Sidirokastro. All the specifications are there, in terms of operation.”
As Mr. Paraskeviotis announced, the business of Loutra has proceeded with the appointment of a forensic technical consultant, who will participate in the autopsy, as there is a reasonable interest in the causes of death, while he did not fail to express his condolences to the relatives of the couple: “We want to arrest the relatives, the children of the couple for this unfortunate event. I can assure you that the baths receive hundreds of visitors every day, they have a history, they have been operating for many years, without similar incidents, and that is why for us it is a very unpleasant fact, which of course we want to be fully clarified, in order to see which were the causes”.
