What will happen in his scene Music Hall Athens on Monday, November 7th we will certainly see it for the first time for the Greek data: the internationally renowned saxophonist, composer and researcher Dimitris Vassilakis will co-exist equally with Shimon, the robot. With them and its creator, Gil Weinberg professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The lineup includes saxophone, trumpet, piano, bass, drums, guitar and laptop. As a member of the jazz ensemble, the robot Shimon will accompany and improvise on the marimba (an African percussion instrument), as well as vocally. In other words, what a real musician would do!

Dimitris Vassilakis spoke exclusively to “Dekatians” and Korina Georgiou about his research called jazz mapping, it concerns the mapping of the language of jazz and aims to highlight its narrative character, offering artificial intelligence the necessary tools to perceive the process of machine learning. The research is being carried out at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA) and in Demokritos, in collaboration with the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), where the Simon robot is being developed.
