The trial for the heinous murder of the unfortunate Garifalia Psarrakos, which was committed in the summer of 2021 in Folegandros, began today in Syros, at the Mixed Jury Court.

The self-confessed accused, a former partner of the unfortunate girl, was brought to court under tight security in the early hours of the morning.

The 30-year-old, who is on remand, sat on the bench accused of intentional homicide in a calm state of mind.

And this because according to the will of the Naxos Judicial Council and the prosecutor’s proposal, the perpetrator of the murder was fully aware of his actions.

Adjourned to November 17

The case was not considered on its merits, since the victim’s side asked for an adjournment and was postponed because the main defense attorney, Alexis Kougias, could not be present. The court adjourned the hearing of the case to a later date of November 17.

It is noted that the relatives and friends of Garifalia have traveled to Syros to support the parents of the deceased, who are asking for exemplary punishment of the perpetrator.

In fact, from early Tuesday morning there was a mobilization in Miaouli Square outside the courts with banners set up in various places by both the relatives and the Feminist organization of Syros.

The parents’ fight for justice is also supported by the island’s residents who also support them in this effort.
