The prosecution of electronic crime found after raiding houses, 1,874 files
Another four cases of child pornography were solved by the prosecution of electronic crime, using the same method that identified and arrested a few days ago a well-known author of children’s books.
According to the announcement of the Police, the Electronic Crime Prosecution Division investigated and solved four cases of pornography of minors and in particular two people were arrested in the context of spontaneous proceedings – of a criminal nature – while a case file of regular proceedings – of a criminal nature – was filed against two more people.
In particular, in the context of actions to prevent and combat the phenomenon of child pornography and after many months of thorough online research and analysis of digital data, internet users were identified, within the Greek territory, who possessed a total of 1,874 files of child pornography suitable for sharing.
The above was brought to the attention of the Athens First Instance Prosecutor’s Office and a relevant will was issued to remove the confidentiality of the communications. From the subsequent preliminary police investigation and after relevant correspondence with the internet service providers involved, the details of the individuals emerged, while their places of residence were also ascertained.
In searches carried out at their homes, between October 24 and November 7, 2022, the following were found and confiscated:
- Laptop computer
- 23 hard drives
- external storage medium (usb)
In particular, from the on-site investigation carried out in the digital persuasions of the first two persons, a lot of material (photos and videos) of minor pornography was found and they were arrested. With the case files, which were filed against them, they were taken to the competent prosecuting authority and referred to a regular Investigator for a main investigation.
For the other two persons, their involvement in the illegal activity was identified, but the conditions for the automatic procedure were not met. In these cases, the filed files were submitted to the competent prosecuting authority.
The seized digital evidence will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination.
