Director Dimitris Indares and his sons are innocent of the “rooftop case”

The acquittal of director Dimitris Indare was decided by the three-member Court of Misdemeanors, acquitting him and his two sons of the charges.

In her proposal, the Prosecutor was a catalyst in favor of the well-known director and his two sons, making extensive reference to the contradictions that, as she said, the police found in what they claimed during the preliminary investigation and in what they testified in court.

The director and his sons were charged, on a case-by-case basis, with attempted unlawful violence, indecent assault, intimidation, dangerous bodily harm, illegal possession of a weapon and disruption of official duties. The charges brought against them concern what took place during the operation to evacuate an occupied building at 45 Matrozou Street, in Koukaki on December 18, 2019.

In his apology, the director pointed out that “we ate the bear’s wood. They were like RoboCop, and they accuse me of resisting, of cursing.

I didn’t have time to do anything, it was like a black storm. Unbelievable abuse, they pressed my head, pulled my hands and I said “mercy, I can’t stand it, I’m going to run away”. My children were tied up, the police were cursing at their mother, saying that she has taken over the whole neighborhood, that I am not their father. They kept saying that if they didn’t catch us on the roof, but caught us inside the house, they would f@@@ the children and their mother. This was my consolation that luckily we were not caught inside the house” he described.

As he pointed out, “I apologize for my naivety in believing that the Greek police are there to protect us. (…) I apologize to my children for my naivety in opening the door to the police, to go up to my roof so that they would take us in handcuffs”.

“They threw me down, handcuffed me, pressed my head to the floor with the boots, I saw my 56-year-old father being kicked with the top of the boot on his head. I was bewildered by the violence inflicted on us. My mother scared in the nightgown yelling “what are you doing?” And to be told: “get out of here baby because I will throw you down the stairs”” testified one of the director’s sons, while the other was absent.
