by

An original initiative in a primary school in Larissa. Children listen to classical music during breaks and according to their teachers, they calm down and concentrate better in class

A special initiative has been undertaken by the 3rd Primary School of the city which implements the “breaks after music”… which are “decorated” with notes from the classical music stave.

The director of the 3rd Primary and gym teacher Mrs. Eleni Dimitriou, speaking about the school’s initiative, said that the results are already encouraging, noting that “music helps students to create a calm atmosphere during recess, while at the same time imparting knowledge about music. We started by playing Hadjidaki and some Hadjidaki instrumentals. Along the way we added Mozart and Vivaldi. We try to combine the music with the tributes that the school musician undertakes to do. In addition to students, it also helps teachers and even local residents. It also works as a measure to prevent intra-school violence. According to research, where there is classical music and a pleasant atmosphere, students do not exhibit such aggressive behaviors.”

According to her, the children have learned many new songs, while the school’s next goal is to acquire a bell that also sounds classical music.
