A 40-year-old man who threatened his mother-in-law with a speargun in 2019 was sentenced to a four-month suspended prison sentence.

The 40-year-old’s relations with his estranged wife in Volos were at zero and the decision of his ex-mother-in-law, not to allow him to see his child, intensified the atmosphere even more.

After the refusal, the 40-year-old angrily left only to return a short time later holding a speargun with which he threatened the woman as soon as she opened the door.

Panic ensued, with the son-in-law and mother-in-law ending up in the department.

In yesterday’s trial of the case, however, the mother-in-law asked the court not to punish the father of her grandson, as the relations of the former couple have now been normalized.

The 40-year-old, however, did not manage to escape the conviction, despite the fact that he apologized to the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court.

He admitted that he had indeed threatened his mother-in-law with the speargun, and apologized repeatedly. However, he was sentenced for his act to a 4-month suspended prison sentence.
