Mônica Bergamo: Sebastian Vettel went to Itu, in SP, to see the Atlantic Forest and eat jabuticaba

by

Four-time Formula 1 champion Sebastian Vettel chose the city of Itu, in the interior of São Paulo, as his first destination after arriving in Brazil this week. Engaged in the socio-environmental agenda, the pilot made a point of visiting a project related to the theme, and was taken to the headquarters of Fundação SOS Mata Atlântica.

During his visit, which took place on Wednesday (9), Vettel heard about the Atlantic Forest and even tasted a jabuticaba grown in the biome, which he said he liked. He was introduced to a forest restoration project promoted more than 15 years ago and to the native seedling production system implemented on site.

The pilot was also invited to observe an area that, after being used for coffee planting and pasture, is once again giving way to a forest. “I could see how good actions like this make a difference to the environment,” he told the SOS Mata Atlântica team.

This weekend, the pilot will participate in the São Paulo Formula 1 GP, in Interlagos, in the city of São Paulo.

As the column showed, the competition should make hotels in the city of São Paulo record their best occupancy rate since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a survey carried out by São Paulo Turismo (SPTuris), linked to the city hall of the capital, the average number of occupied rooms for the period between this Friday (11) and Tuesday (15) is 92.6%.

The index surpasses even the best hotel brand in São Paulo in 2019, before the arrival of the new coronavirus, when an occupancy rate of 74.91% was recorded in November of that year.

The survey was carried out by the Tourism and Events Observatory, linked to SPTuris, and took into account projects in the Itaim Bibi, Vila Olímpia, Brooklin, Moema, Vila Mariana, Pinheiros, Santo Amaro, Jardim Paulista, Jardins and Higienópolis neighborhoods, in addition to the region from Paulista Avenue.

In some units, all rooms are occupied.

In addition to the volume of tourists and visitors, the investment made during the stay is also eagerly awaited by the City of São Paulo. In 2021, during the São Paulo GP, the average expense of non-residents of the city was BRL 4,500.
