Free first aid seminars for “Neighborhood Babysitters”

by

Those interested in participating in the program must necessarily have this certification

The possibility of free first aid seminars for infants and children is given by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in collaboration with EKAV to those who register in the Caregivers Register for the “Neighborhood Babysitters” program.

Those interested must have a certificate of knowledge of first aid for infants and children. Those who do not have this certification can, during the completion of their application, answer the question “if there is a certificate” in the negative, i.e. “No” and declare their intention to participate in the free seminars of EKAB by selecting the specific box .

In this way, they will be automatically included in the list of trainees maintained at the help desk of the program and will then be notified electronically of the time and place of their training.

The training consists of two parts, the theoretical which is done electronically through the EKAB e-class platform and the practical which is set at the nearest EKAB training center for the trainee based on availability. The practical training is carried out by professional rescuers of EKAB.

Participation in the seminars is mandatory and in case of no-show or failure in the practical test, re-free participation is excluded. It is noted that the first seminars have already started and will continue in the next period of time.

The Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Maria Syregela thanked the President of EKAV Nikos Papaevstathiou for the immediate and positive response to the request of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for the organization of first aid seminars for the participants of the “Neighborhood Babysitters” program. “The seminars are particularly important for the safety of infants, as caretakers who will be looking after children need to know age-appropriate first aid and be able to put it into practice during an emergency. Parents, for their part, in order to participate in the program, must feel confident about the quality of the care services provided,” said Ms Syregela.

For his part, the president of EKAV, Nikos Papaevstathiou, stated that “Our Education Department implements free first aid training seminars for infants and toddlers, providing the required official certification to the candidate curators of the “Neighborhood Babysitters” action. EKAB has been and will always be a helper in all initiatives and positive actions aimed at social support and the safety of the modern Greek family”.
