A gang that had committed 50 thefts and burglaries in three months in Thessaloniki was dismantled

Rich criminal activity had developed in the last three months by a gang, whose members are accused of having committed a total of fifty burglaries and thefts in areas of western Thessaloniki and in neighboring prefectures, with their booty exceeding 43,000 euros in money and objects, while the damage to business facilities is estimated to be close to 30,000 euros.

Two citizens, aged 20 and 29, were arrested as members of the gang, while the details of two more accomplices (nationals), aged 34 and 18, were identified. According to the investigation by police officers of the Thessaloniki Property Crimes Department, with the assistance of police officers from the Delta and Alexandria Security Departments of Imathia, acting in different formations, the defendants carried out from last August until mid-November one theft – break-in after another, reaching a total of fifty.

In particular, as stated in an announcement by EL.AS., the criminal group counts on its assets 13 vehicle thefts (of which 12 were located and attributed to their rightful owners), 14 gas station break-ins12 business burglaries, e.gnine 5 garage burglaries and 6 shop burglaries.

Their areas of action they are located in Sindos, Chalastra, Efkarpia, Evosmos, Oreokastro, Menemeni, Agios Athanasios and Chalkidona, as well as in areas of the prefectures of Pella, Kilkis and Imathia.

How the gang operated

It is characteristic thata members of the gang stole parked cars from streets or outdoor garage parking lots. Using the stolen vehicles as “battering rams” they rammed with these security rolls or the central doors of the “target” businesses from where they stole whatever they could find.

The two of those arrested were located yesterday morning in Sindo, Thessaloniki, after they had previously broken into the premises of a company from where they removed 74 pallets, as noted in the same announcement.
