The trial, in the second degree, for the death of Melina was set for today, by the Three-member Court of Misdemeanors of Eastern Crete, following an appeal filed by the competent prosecutor, however, interrupted due to obstruction of defense counsel.
It is recalled that in March 2021, the Three-member Misdemeanor Court of Heraklion declared innocent the accused anesthesiologist who was referred to the bench for the death of the stillborn girl. The court’s decision caused bitterness and anger in the tragic parents of the 4-year-old girl who waited five whole years to get justice for the death of their child.
A catalytic role in the final judgment of the court was also played by the positions of the three experts whom it had appointed, shortly before the issuance of the decision, in order to provide answers-clarifications on specific issues-questions of the seat.
