More than 500 million euros have been invested to strengthen public transport, stressed the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Costas Karamanlis, in SKAI 100.3 and added that in two years the bus fleet has increased by 55%.
He also stated that the Attiko Metro is studying new projects, line 4 is progressing, while there are preliminary studies, discussions and contacts with neighboring Municipalities for the extension of the metro to the coastal front.
Referring to the works that must be done to decongest Athena and the traffic to be problematic in 5 to 10 years, he stressed that the extension of Kymi Avenue, which will be auctioned in the coming days, is planned and will relieve those who move on Attiki Odos.
In addition, the plan for the construction of the Heloupolis tunnel that will end before Vouliagmeni Avenue is being studied.
Mr. Karamanlis pointed out that with the green ring the traffic in the center of Athens has significantly improved.
Regarding the traffic in Kifissos, he stated that although the maintenance and traffic belongs to the region, the Ministry of Infrastructure has invited all the competent bodies to sit at the table to find solutions.
In this context, he pointed out that the traffic management center should be strengthened by the region.
