The 56-year-old confessed perpetrator of the murder is being taken to the criminal prosecution, with the victim being his 55-year-old ex-wife, whom he shot in the back with a shotgun, when he entered a patisserie to buy bread, yesterday morning in Thessaloniki.
The 56-year-old allegedly claimed during his testimony to the police of the Crimes against Life Department of the Thessaloniki Security that he could not stand being away from his ex-partner, after their separation, four years ago, and had been blinded by jealousy. He, in fact, allegedly had created problems in the past in the woman, according to testimonies from her environment, so the investigations turned to his face.
Throwing light on the case, the police located him and arrested him on Tuesday afternoon in a settlement in the area of Diavata, while, then, the perpetrator pointed to a place in Kalochori, where he had hidden the weapon with which he committed the crime.
Initially, there were testimonies, according to which the person who carried the weapon looked like a woman. It seems, however, that the long coat and the hood that the 56-year-old wore, in combination with his slender body type, misled the witnesses. As the authorities’ investigations progressed, the woman-perpetrator scenario was overturned.
