A robbery occurred in Mylopotamos Rethymno when two hooded men immobilized a company vehicle couriers on the provincial network and extorted money from the driver-employee of the company.
According to information from the General Police Directorate of Crete, yesterday Friday late afternoon, the company’s vehicle was moving from Zoniana to Axos Mylopotamos in the direction of Rethymno. On his way, the driver noticed two large garbage cans, which were blocking his way, and therefore he got out of the vehicle to remove them and continue on his way. Two hooded men appeared in front of him and forced him to hand over the money he was carrying. The driver obeyed and handed over the amount of 4,000 euros, according to the company’s own testimony. They then put him in the car and told him to head to Rethymno, while the two men, who spoke pure Greek, according to the driver, they left on foot in an unknown direction.
The driver-employee of the courier company notified the police. As he has stated, he did not receive violence, he was not beaten by the perpetrators. The necessary statements have been obtained from the police, while investigations are already underway to find the two men. The case has been taken over by the Mylopotamos Rethymnon Police Department.
