Thessaloniki: Arrests of two people who forced a pregnant woman to beg

For the case a 51-year-old and a 53-year-old woman were arrested Bulgarian nationals, against whom a case was filed, as the case may be, for joint human trafficking and attempted rape.

In particular, a 34-year-old Bulgarian woman who was in advanced pregnancy was found begging on a daily basis in central streets of Thessaloniki, endangering her life as well as that of the fetus.

From the police investigation, it emerged that the 34-year-old, at the end of October 2022, entered our country together with her 53-year-old compatriot, who, taking advantage of her financial difficulties, convinced her to beg.

In addition, according to what the 34-year-old complained, the 51-year-old repeatedly attempted to rape her using force and threats, however, due to the 34-year-old’s reaction, he did not complete these attempts.

Police officers of the aforementioned Service located on Thursday and arrested the two foreigners and with the case filed against them they will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.
