Until June 30, 2023, the deadline for submitting requests for the derogation of a third country citizen for temporary employment in the agricultural economy is extended.

With the amendment of the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Giorgos Georgantas, which was voted in the Parliament, the transfer process is facilitated for those who are exempt from the entry visa requirement, as well as for those who are in the country and their residence status has not been regulated, while for further facilitation of applicants operates an electronic platform.

The employment of land workers will cover a period of time from 30 to 90 days with the possibility of extension for an additional 90 days. That is, the land workers will be able to stay in the country for a total of 6 months, as long as they will be employed in seasonal agricultural work.

Also, in order to cover the immediate cultivation needs for the olive harvest, it was provided that for employer applications submitted until December 31, 2022, one worker will correspond to an area of ​​fifteen hectares for edible olives and one worker for an area of ​​twenty hectares for oil-making olives and the maximum number of jobs will be determined by the corresponding arable area per employee, without the relative numerical limitation per regional unit.
