Preparations both on the Aristotelous axis and throughout the city are feverish, ahead of December 7, when the Christmas tree is expected to be lit.
Thessaloniki is starting to get into a festive rhythm, since a short time ago the central tree that will be decorated for this year’s Christmas arrived at Aristotelous Square, writes the Thestival.gr.
It is a fir tree, 18 meters high, from Taxiarchis of Halkidiki.
Preparations both on the Aristotelous axis and throughout the city are feverish, ahead of December 7, when the Christmas tree and the city’s festive decorations are expected to be lit.
A central tree will be placed in Aristotelous Square, framed by smaller firs, while the spectacle created by their alternating lighting is expected to be impressive. The festive message will reach every neighborhood, since Christmas trees, an illuminated manger, illuminated boats and balls will be placed in central points of each municipal community. In total, more than 100 Christmas trees will be placed in the municipal communities.
For one more year, moreover, the city’s decoration will be expanded and upgraded, with many additional streets of the city being decorated by the Municipality. And this Christmas, the Municipality will give Thessaloniki the festive atmosphere that befits a city with ambition and optimism, but at the same time it will receive all the provisions required due to the crisis to limit energy consumption. The energy consumption for the city’s festive lighting during the Christmas season will be 58% lower this year than last year.
