Warning for extreme weather phenomena in Zakynthos – Kefalonia

A message from 112 about the bad weather “Ariel” was sent to the residents of Zakynthos and Kefalonia, while heavy rains and storms affect most of the country.

From the Civil Protection Service of the Regional Unit of Zakynthos, it is announced that, according to the emergency bulletin of dangerous weather phenomena of the E.M.Y. from today until the midday hours of Thursday, deterioration is expected in Zakynthos, with the main features being locally high rain heights, high precipitation rates, high frequency of lightning and gale-force winds of 7-8 Beaufort.

All residents of Zakynthos are appealed to, if and when severe weather phenomena such as heavy rainfall and gale-force winds occur in places, to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas that pose a risk of landslides and local flooding.

We recommend that there be special attention on Wednesday evenings!!

• Residents of all sensitive areas that have faced similar problems in the past are asked to be particularly careful in the event of landslides,
•Also, all residents, especially in rural areas, are requested to be particularly careful in the accumulation of transported materials and objects that may cause flooding problems in ditches, streams, bridges and streams.

Following tornado damage to homes and businesses in past storms, residents are asked to:

•Secure items that may be blown away by wind or heavy rain and may cause damage or injury.
• Fix any billboards they may have posted.
• To secure the doors and windows of their homes or workplaces.
•Be careful in their movements.

Finally, small ships, professional and amateur fishing boats, pleasure boats, and nautical groups, to avoid their activity and to take care of the safe keeping during the validity period of the deterioration.
