“The Ministry of Health submitted to the Parliament a Bill that further privatizes the National Health System” they state in their announcement

Reporting: Makis Synodinos

The health workers, who are currently protesting in front of the monument to the Unknown Soldier, are demanding the withdrawal of the Ministry of Health’s bill for the National Health System. having closed Vasilissis Amalias.

As mentioned in a related announcement by POEDIN:

“The Ministry of Health submitted to Parliament a Bill that further privatizes the National Health System.

A fundamental principle of the establishment of the National Health System is the full and exclusive employment of the staff.

The Bill enables NHS doctors to work in private health companies and private doctors to work part-time in Hospitals. These arrangements will further increase private health expenditure and the resulting demand for services. These arrangements are a continuation of the institution of Afternoon surgeries in Hospitals upon payment of the patients.

Surgery lists will be reduced by staff recruitment, opening of all operating theaters, incentives for health workers and limits on the operation of the private sector.

The Bill under submission provides for financial incentives for the doctors of the TEP. The TEPs of the Hospitals are covered by almost all of the Hospitals’ doctors. Unequal treatment will create significant difficulties in the operation of on-call Hospitals.

The Bill assigns secondary transfers to private individuals with hidden and overt charges for patients and much higher costs for the State. The solution is to assign secondary transfers to the Hospitals with the establishment of organic instruction positions in the Hospitals and the necessary recruitments.

We disagree and intervene with the policies of mergers and abolition of Hospitals.

We claim the strengthening of Public Health with adequate staffing and funding.

We demand an increase in Public Expenditure on Public Health to stop citizens reaching into their pockets.

We demand from the government not to table this Bill for voting.

On Thursday 1/12/2022 WE ANNOUNCE A 4-HOUR WORK STOP 11am – 3pm and a GATHERING at 1:00pm at the PARLIAMENT.

We will request a meeting with all parties in order not to pass the Bill.

WE REQUIRE:

• WITHDRAW THE BILL NOW

• INCREASE OF SALARY

• INSCRIPTION IN THE NE

• RECRUITMENT OF PERMANENT STAFF

• LIMITATION OF CONTRACTORS

• STRONG PUBLIC HEALTH – WELFARE

• SELF FUNDING

• SINGLE BRANCH OF STAFF WITH DISTINCT DUTIES

• EXPULSION OF CONTRACTORS

• REMOVING INHIBITORS

• OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE – WORKING ACCIDENT”
