Which firewood is more efficient?

The most common commercial firewoods are oak, beech, pine and olive, each with different burning characteristics.

According to the data shown in the graph, the maximum amount of heat produced by a 1kg mass of dry wood that burns completely (calorific value) ranges between 3,900–5,100 kcal/kg

Meanwhile, the world’s significant shift to burning wood for domestic heating this winter will significantly further burden the atmosphere of Athens, as well as the health of citizens, according to estimates by researchers of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA).

If we switch massively to burning wood for heating, Observatory scientists warn, we will breathe much more particles into the atmosphere of Athens.
