A landslide that happened today in West Norway dragged by destroying a highway and railway section of many tens of meters long, causing the deaths of a man, authorities said.

A large hole crosses both lanes of the E6 motorway and the railway line in Levaniger, where the landslide occurred, show photos posted by Norwegian media.

A Danes working on the spot is missing and considered dead, said police in the Todellag area.

Two houses near the scene of the landslide were evacuated.

The state -owned company, responsible for managing the infrastructure of the Norwegian railways, was carrying out work to stabilize the ground along the railway, the company’s administration said on the NRK broadcasting network.

However, it is too early to determine whether these work may have caused the landslide, according to the company.
