The reason for a 35-year-old priest from Trikalawho, however, operated in villages of another Diocese, who according to the report of LamiaReport was living with a 23-year-old man, who was facing some health problems.
According to the case file, which was created against him, the priest through two accounts (one in his name and one in the name of the 23-year-old) made fundraisers through social media and from posts on the internet, claiming that the 23-year-old has problems and a big financial need.
All this, as proved by the investigation of the Trikala Security Police, was done without the knowledge of the 23-year-old, since the administrator of the accounts was the 35-year-old priest.
The amount of €12,922.50 was found in the above two “fundraising” accounts, the amount of €20,000 was found in the priest’s house, while another €2,110 was found on him.
Also, according to information from LamiaReport, the priest had made purchases in mobile phones and computers, €9,500, while he had also bought a car worth €31,000.
Finally, let’s say that the 35-year-old priest was immediately put on holiday as soon as the relevant Diocese was informed about the formation of the relevant case file.
