Cassada and Rubio sat 7 hours and 5 minutes outside the Space Station, completing their assigned tasks
Expedition 68 flight engineers Josh Cassada and Frank Rubio NASA completed their spacewalk after 7 hours and 5 minutes.
Cassada and Rubio completed their primary objectives, which were to deploy an International Space Station Roll-Out Solar Array (iROSA) and disconnect a cable to ensure channel 1B can be reactivated. They also completed an additional job to loosen several bolts for the upcoming installation iROSA in the 4A feed channel in the port beam.

It was the 256th spacewalk to support the assembly, upgrade and maintenance of the space station and was the second spacewalk for both astronauts. The Cassada and Rubio are in the midst of a planned six-month science mission living and working in the microgravity laboratory to advance scientific knowledge and demonstrate new technologies for future human and robotic exploration missions, including lunar missions through NASA’s Artemis program.
The next spacewalk on USA is scheduled for Monday, December 19, to install an iROSA on the 4A feed channel at the port. This will be the fourth iROSA out of a total of six scheduled for installation. The iROSAs will increase power generation capacity by up to 30%, increasing the station’s total available power from 160 kilowatts to up to 215 kilowatts.
