Workers warn of escalating mobilizations
On Monday, December 5, 2022, workers in the Thessaloniki metro will go on strike from 12:00 to 15:30. In a statement, the union in the construction sector of the Thessaloniki metro calls for a gathering at Venizelos station at 12:00, while the workers declare that they are determined to continue the mobilizations.

WE DECIDED
The Notice of Work Stoppage on Monday 05/12/2022, from 12:00 to 15:30 for all staff working in the Construction Sector of METRO THESSALONIKI.
WE ARE CALLING FOR A GATHERING AT THE TIME OF THE WORK STOP
AT THE VENIZELO STATION with REQUESTS: Elimination of Deficiencies in safety measures in the workplaces and in the indulgently insufficient equipment in Personal Protection Means.
SALARY INCREASE FOR ALL PROJECT STAFF.
The need of Thessaloniki metro workers for bold wage increases has become IMPERATIVE.
Since 2016, with the entry of AKTORA, we have suffered a reduction of more than 30% in our salaries.
The contractor of the project announces ONLY profits, (45 million euros only from arbitrations until 2019).
At the same time, he has requested a restructuring of the tariffs for raw materials and fuel due to the crisis, which primarily plagues workers.
Despite the efforts of our Union, for a peaceful settlement, the company turns a deaf ear, leading to despair and impoverishment of the workers and their families.
The workers put their backs on the project by working expertly and under harsh and adverse conditions at the risk of their lives, while already THE MONTH DOESN’T COME OUT.
We DEMAND immediate adjustment of our salaries. WE ARE READY FOR A PERIOD STRIKE”
