Four million cars from the Hyundai plant in the Czech Republic

by

Hyundai Motor celebrates another milestone for the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech (HMMC) plant in Nošovice, Czech Republic by producing a Tucson N Line with serial number 4,000,000.

Despite the pandemic, global supply chain problems and other external influences, HMMC has managed to maintain a high production rate. This year, it is expected to produce more than 321,000 vehicles, surpassing the “pre-pandemic” year of 2019.

The production of 4,000,000 Hyundai cars at HMMC reflects the current trend of electrification. While the plant exclusively produced ICE models until 2019, in early 2020 it began production of the Hyundai Kona Electric, which became the first mass-produced electric vehicle (EV). In autumn 2020, the production of Hybrid (HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) vehicles with the fourth generation TUCSON started in Nošovice. At the same time, the share of cars with diesel engines has declined in recent years, with these models making up only 9% of vehicles produced at HMMC this year, while electric (EV) cars, including Hybrid (HEV) and Plug- in Hybrid (PHEV) accounts for nearly 40% of HMMC’s output so far this year and their share will continue to grow in the coming years.

More TUCSONs have been produced in Nošovice than any other Hyundai model, accounting for over 70% of production since the plant opened in 2008. The i30 range, which is available in Hatchback, Wagon and Fastback body styles, represents approx. 17% of HMMC’s output, while KONA Electric accounts for 10% of output. The award-winning i30 N, which is produced as both a Hatchback and a Fastback, completes HMMC’s production capability.
