The arrival of the fourth co-owner and Executive Chef Dimitris Skarmoutsou brought even greater development, with menus that marry Mediterranean with international cuisine, traditional with modern, comfort food with haute gastronomy
A route from yesterday to today. From Mani to Athens. From the family table to haute gastronomy. A journey of 25 years… A road that led a group of ordinary people from a village in Mani to the top. Their only guide, the love for the taste, the knowledge of good raw material, the trust in the worthiness of the partners. Integrity of character, authenticity of soul, hard-earned experience, desire for innovation are what characterize Dimitris and Panagiotis Christofileas and Diomedes Kapsalisthe people who started this journey together 25 years ago and continue to this day with great success.
The arrival of the fourth co-owner and Executive Chef Dimitris Skarmoutsou, brought even greater development, with menus that marry Mediterranean with international cuisine, traditional with modern, comfort food with haute gastronomy. The expertise found application beyond the boundaries of catering, leading to the Dining-Catering-Experience tripartite, as the group now counts 8 restaurants in emblematic museums, landmarks, organizations & educational institutions in Athens.
Those who attended the event held at the Athens Conservatory, on Monday, November 28, had the opportunity to “travel” through space and time… The peristyle was transformed, shed its urban character and thanks to its donation, became the ideal canvas to revive the Mani of yesteryear… When the olive harvest was done with bare hands, worked, trained in the kamato and the fruit gave the blessed oil that in the traditional kitchen became the protagonist for the pies, lalangias, diples, the bread that the Maniates leavened mothers, to fill the humble family table.
Original pictures that communicate the profile of Deipnosophistiorion and prove for 25 years that its people do not forget their beginnings, remain faithful to their vision, support organizations that stand next to those in need and create lifelong professional ties. Representatives of the country’s leading museums and institutions (Magginis Giorgis – Scientific Director of the Benaki Museum of Greek Culture, Nikol Kyriakopoulou – Vice President of the Goulandris Museum of Natural History, Natassa Zacharioudaki – Director of Commercial Partnerships of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center), executives of internationally renowned educational institutions (Mihalis Orontis – Head of Operations of the American College of Greece), people of spirit and business (Koromila Marianna – Author, Giannakaki Dora – Communication Specialist, Portosalte Aris – Journalist, Spyros & Chrysanthos Panas – Entrepreneurs, owners of Island) but also the award-winning chefs of Delta Restaurant Thanos Fescos & Giorgos Papazachariasextended their greetings, proving that relationships based on mutual respect, trust and appreciation not only stand the test of time, but grow ever stronger.
And just like that, the mystifying and emotional atmosphere of the “Ioannis Despotopoulos” amphitheater became the bridge between yesterday and today… The artistic touch of the visual artist Apostolos Handzaras, the abstract rendering of the owl of Deipnosophistrio, which traveled from the enchanting Kastania, place of origin of the owners, to Athens and the group’s dining areas, the aerial choreography of Irini Christophileas and Marilena Kostopoulos, bridged yesterday with today, the Mani of tradition, the richness of the Greek land in the Athens of today, the fine art de la table, sustainability and innovative culinary techniques, which led to the stars. Those of the Michelin guide, which the DELTA restaurant received and which were reflected in the Arts Foyer, where the gala dinner was held under the signature and personal supervision of Executive Chef Dimitris Skarmoutsou, the wine selections of the award-winning sommelier Aris Sklavenitis and the internationally renowned cocktails mixologist Aris Hatjiantoniou. The setting, inextricably linked to the course towards the future of Deipnosofistirion, linearly depicted the evolution of the group and its people, guided by the stars, light and haute gastronomy.
The guests, through this holistic experience, got to know the special people behind the success, the creativity, the innovation, behind the focus on perfection, who managed to do something local, global and something humble, grand.
Lifelong professional ties, with the country’s leading museums and institutions, support of charitable actions, support of organizations that stand next to those in need… This is the profile of a company that, for 25 years, proves that its people do not forget the beginning them and remain authentic.
They graced the evening with their presence people from the political world and modern business, the spirit and the Arts, representatives of Museums and Organizations but also partners with whom the company has been working since its inception.
