60 packages of childhood vaccines, prescribed up to 8 months earlier, were found, from which the authenticity strips had been removed
Case illegal possession and trafficking of vaccines for children by a private pediatrician in collaboration with a private pharmacy, was revealed in Thessaloniki after an anonymous complaint.
Specifically, according to thestival.gr, the case involving the private pediatrician and the pharmacist who illegally possessed and trafficked vaccines for children was investigated by inspectors of the National Transparency Authority following the complaint.
This was followed by an audit in a private pediatrician’s office in Central Macedonia, during the period June 2020 – May 2022 of pediatric vaccines.
There they were 60 packages of childhood vaccines, where had prescribed up to 8 months previously, of which the authenticity tapes had been removed.
From the testimonies of parents of children, as well as other involved parties, as well as the comparison of vaccination dates with the analysis of prescription execution time, it was found unjustified delay in the electronic execution of the specific prescriptions on behalf of the private pharmacy, “in violation of article 4, par. 4 of PD 121/2008”.
It is characteristic that after the on-site inspection of the EAD Inspectors at the pediatrician’s office, both the selective execution of the prescriptions at the specific pharmacy, as well as the unjustified delay in the execution of the prescriptions on the part of the pharmacy, ceased.
It is noted that during the audit it was also established that in 2017 a second directed prescription of vaccines had been made by the pediatrician K.M. to another pharmacy, which, however, stopped operating at the beginning of 2018.
Finally, the Audit Report of the EAD was forwarded to the Medical Association of Thessaloniki and the Pharmaceutical Association of Thessaloniki, in order to carry out the disciplinary control of the pediatrician and the pharmacist, respectively, as well as to the EOF and the EOPYY in order to consider the possibility of further actions within the framework of the applicable provisions.
