The last goodbye was the tragic parents, relatives, students and the local community of Serres to 11-year-old Vassilis
The tragic parents, relatives, students and the local community of Serres said the last goodbye to the 11-year-old Vassilis who lost his life so prematurely and unjustly yesterday, after the fatal explosion in the boiler at the 9th Primary School.
In the holy church of Saints Constantine and Helen in the A cemetery of Serres, all his classmates were found holding white roses in their hands, relatives and friends of the unfortunate child who said goodbye to him with a mute lament, still not being able to realize what has happened.
Tragic figures are the parents and younger sister of the unfortunate student who a year ago brought her from Athens to Serres, the mother’s place of origin, in search of a better quality of life for their children.
The climate since yesterday is particularly heavy in the entire society of Serres for the little student and almost all the residents rushed to the 1st Cemetery of Serres to say goodbye to little Vassilis.
The uncle of the 11-year-old student, clearly shocked, speaking to the journalists, asked the judiciary to do its job and to assign responsibility to those responsible so that there would not be another such tragic incident.
The administrative board of the teachers’ association of the Serres Regional Unit, with a particularly moving announcement, expressed its condolences for the loss of the 11-year-old boy and said goodbye to him with verses by Kostis Palamas:
“It got dark early in our city today. The same in our hearts. In a space that is intertwined with joy and creation, the act of drama unfolded that led us to absolute mourning. We are shocked and devastated. A “why” is drowned out by our uncontrollable sobbing. It is unfair. It is beyond our limits. Our thoughts go to the parents of little Vassilis. We sympathize and mourn his untimely loss. Words cannot convey what we feel. Our good child/ On the journey that the black horseman is taking you/ beg from his hand/ not to take anything”.
