The young mother and her nineteen babies, five girls and four boys, who were born in Morocco in May 2021, returned to Bamako, Mali today and are in good health, local authorities said.
“Joy and satisfaction to see them in good condition. The babies and mom are fine and arrived safely in Mali. The state kept its promises, thank God,” said Health Minister Dieminatou Sangare.
A little earlier the minister had posted on her Facebook page the photos of the ninetwins and their parents.
Halima Cisse, originally from Tobuktu, gave birth in May 2021 to five girls and four boys.
She had been transferred at the end of March of the same year from Bamako to Casablanca, in order to be monitored by doctors in this difficult and dangerous multiple pregnancy.
Experts were concerned about her health and the babies’ chances of survival. They remained for a year and a half in Morocco for observation until the doctors gave the “green light” to return home.
