Seven professors from the Hellenic Mediterranean University on Stanford’s list of top scientists

Seven members of the academic community of the Hellenic Mediterranean University (ELMEPA) are on the list of the top 100,000 scientists in the world for 2020, according to the Stanford University study, while they appear in the ranking lists of the top 2% of researchers worldwide for the year .

These are Professor Emmanouil Kymakis (Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering), Assistant Professor Dimitrios Kalderis (Department of Electrical Engineering), Assistant Professor Dimitra Bernardou (Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering) ), Professor Dimitrios Katsaprakakis (Department of Mechanical Engineering), Associate Professor Lazaros Tzounis (Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Professor Achilleas Vairis (Department of Mechanical Engineering). Speaking to APE – MPE, the Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Learning and Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance, Hellenic Mediterranean University, Christos Floros said that this distinction is a great satisfaction and creates feelings of joy as it proves the high level of research Mediterranean University.

“The global distinction concerns their scientific area and is related to their research work, publications and the repercussions of their publications. It is important to note that four faculty members are on this list for the second year. This means that we see that the professors of ELMEPA are constantly distinguished for their research work, which is of a high level and is recognized internationally “said Mr. Floros, who added that ELMEPA emphasizes excellence.

“We see that both the six Institutes of the University Research Center (PEK-ELMEPA) and the Research Laboratories of the Schools and Departments, develop important research work in all areas, while it is important to mention that a large number of researchers and professors who cooperate with PEK-ELMEPA, are members of other Universities in Greece and abroad and help in the development of our research “added the Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Learning of ELMEPA who stated that the goal is for the Greek Mediterranean University to be constantly evolving.

The list of top researchers based on their overall scientific work also includes four faculty members of the Hellenic Mediterranean University, three of whom are included in the list for 2020. This is Professor Emmanouil Kymakis (Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering), Professor Thrasyvoulos Manios (Department of Agriculture), Professor Elias Potamitis (Department of Music Technology & Acoustics) and Professor Achilleas Vairis (Department of Mechanical Engineering).

“It is the responsibility of all of us to contribute to the development of the place and we can say that both through the research projects, at national and European level, we see that more and more professors and researchers of ELMEPA are participating. The Vice Chancellor for Research and Lifelong Learning and Professor at the Department of Accounting and Finance, Hellenic Mediterranean University, also referred to the recession due to the pandemic, adding that universities are important to contribute to the development of the country.

Speaking to APE-MPE, the rector of ELMEPA Nikos Katsaraxis expressed the special satisfaction of the Rector’s Office for the important distinction of the professors.
