“The Silent Auctions are over and Alexander’s wish to auction his medals is coming true. The participation of people from different countries was touching,” announced the family
Alexandros Nikolaidis’ last wish to auction off the medals he won at the Olympics and the three Olympic torches he held as a torchbearer came true today as – just months after his death – his family announced that “the Silent Auctions are complete” with participations of stakeholders from different countries.
The announcement in detail:
“The Silent Auctions have been completed and the wish of the Olympian Alexandros Nikolaidis to have his medals auctioned is coming true. The participation of people from different countries was touching. Many participants expressed a desire to donate to the organizations the amount they allocated in the auction, even though they were not the highest bidders, and this is what makes Alexander’s bequest even more important.
The auction money will be given directly and equally to the following seven non-profit organizations and to the 2 families affected by the October 15 phenomena in Crete.
-LAMPSI- Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Diseases of Northern Greece.
-FLOGA- Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Diseases.
– SOS Children’s Village in Filiro, Thessaloniki.
– Association of Earthquake Victims of the Municipality of Minoa Pediada “Hope” and to the families of the two victims of the natural phenomena of October 15, 2022 in Crete.
– ARSIS – Youth Support Social Organization.
-Doctors Without Borders.
– Social Kitchen the Other Man”.
