After the crisis caused by Covid caused an avalanche of closures of restaurants and bars in São Paulo, the capital of São Paulo saw new addresses emerge in the last year, following an improvement in the pandemic in the country.

And there were many gastronomic innovations in the city. According to Abrasel, the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants, there was a 35% growth in the number of new establishments in relation to ventures that survived the pandemic.

Among the addresses that opened their doors this year are houses run by renowned chefs, such as the Frenchman Erick Jacquin, who opened his fifth restaurant, and Renata Vanzetto, now at the head of nine businesses.

The year 2022 was also marked by the arrival of international cuisines in São Paulo. This is the case of the Peruvian Osso, elected one of the best in Latin America and which gained a branch in Itaim Bibi. The neighborhood also became the address of Boucherie, by French chef Claude Troisgros.

The carioca rodizio is part of a gastronomic complex called Le Quartier, which also includes Chez Claude and Bar do Quartier. These complexes, which bring together different restaurants in a single location, were another trend. One of the best examples is Vila Anália, in the east zone.

The new restaurant in Itaim Bibi wasn’t just opened anywhere: it’s located in the former home of Cacilda Becker, the grande dame of Brazilian theater. Chef Luiza Hoffman’s menu includes Mediterranean, Asian and Brazilian dishes. The environment refers to the universe of the theater.

Aussie Grill

The Outback group’s house is dedicated to fried chicken, which started to become popular in bars and restaurants in São Paulo. There are common versions of frying, but also unusual options, such as the chocolate cone filled with chicken and cheese.

Boucherie

French chef Claude Troisgros brought the restaurant opened 12 years ago in Rio de Janeiro to the capital of São Paulo. The house has a rotation system with cuts of meat, chicken and fish. The novelty is part of a gastronomic complex called Le Quartier, which also includes Chez Claude and Bar do Quartier.

Casa Cascais

The complex is dedicated to Portuguese culture and has two restaurants and an emporium. At Pátio das Cantigas, headed by Maria Conceição Costa, traditional Portuguese dishes are served. Café do Santo is open from breakfast to dinner.

Kaspia caviar

The place is the first branch in Latin America of the classic restaurant opened in Paris in 1927. There, the star of the menu is caviar. The luxurious delicacy can be ordered separately or appear in recipes, with prices that can reach up to R$ 4,300.

Chef Renata Vanzetto has put together a Mediterranean-inspired menu in what is the ninth venture under her command. The house is located on Rua Bela Cintra, where most of its businesses are concentrated, in the west zone of São Paulo.

Bone

It is the first unit of the Peruvian restaurant, voted one of the best in Latin America by the 50 Best, outside its country of origin. Headed by chef Renzo Garibaldi, the house specializes in dry-aged meats.

Stasera

Italian cuisine occupies the former address of Jiquitaia, in Baixo Augusta. The endeavor is led by the brothers Marcelo and Nina Bastos, who sign the menu, Jean Ponce and Greg Caisley, from Guarita. On the upper floor of the property there is a bar.

Steak Steak

French chef Erick Jacquin’s new restaurant specializes in meat and operates on an all-you-can-eat basis, in a room with red walls and an open kitchen. This is the fifth project by the Masterchef jury in São Paulo.

Vila Anália

The gastronomic complex gathers five restaurants of different cuisines in a building in Jardim Anália Franco, in the east zone of the city. They are: the French Merci, the Italian Temperani, the Spanish Tapas 93, the Japanese Susume and the Greek Mii, on the terrace.
