It is noted that the festive “love meals” will be repeated on New Year’s Eve and Day.
A big “hug” for everyone, and especially for vulnerable citizens, is being done this Christmas by the Municipality of Athens, organizing festive meals that will reach the homeless shelters, but also on the streets of the city through the Street Work teams of the Reception and Solidarity Center of the municipality (K.Y.A.D.A.).
On Christmas Eve, a total of 1,200 “meals of love” will be distributed, accompanied by appetizers and traditional sweets, which are a donation from the company MEGA S.A., while with the same procedure, the following day – Christmas Day – an additional 1,200 will be offered full, hot meals – donated by Lidl Hellas – in places where there are homeless people and people in need.
The festive activities at the Multipurpose Homeless Center started with the “Street Pasta Night”, realized in collaboration with Barilla and the Le Monde Cooking School. Students of the school, volunteers and employees of the company, were a few days ago at the Day Center, where they prepared 250 portions of pasta, which they distributed to the guests of the structure, as well as to homeless people on the street.
Meanwhile, every day, since the beginning of the month, reinforced packages with all the necessary items for households living in difficult conditions are distributed through the Citizens’ Mutual Aid Center of the Municipality of Athens. The Social Grocery, having managed to develop partnerships with companies active in the food industry, enriched – indeed – the packages with meat, chicken and sweets (more than 5,000), in collaboration with the companies Karamolegos, Politis Group, ELOMAS group.
