France: Clashes between Kurds and police in central Paris after deadly attack – Video

Clashes between Kurdish protesters and police occurred in the center of Paris, after the deadly attack with three dead Kurds.

The police forces they used tear gas to disperse the crowd near the Kurdish cultural center, in front of which a man killed three people this afternoon, according to an AFP journalist.

The incidents began when the crowd crashed into a cordon of security forces protecting French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, who arrived at the scene.

Security forces fired tear gas at protesters, who in turn threw objects in their direction, burned trash cans and set up barricades.

The French interior minister stressed that the French government had asked police to step up protection of Kurdish community sites in the country after the deadly attack, noting that the exact motives of the attacker, a 69-year-old French national who “as things stand” acted alone of, are still unknown.

The gunman opened fire earlier today at the Ahmet Kaya Kurdish Cultural Center and a neighboring Kurdish cafe in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, killing three people who were members of the local Kurdish community and injuring three others. The perpetrator was arrested.

The attack took place on rue Angiem, at the height of the Kurdish cultural center, in a commercial area that is the center of Kurdish community life in the French capital.
