He confirmed that the tests showed that his client had not consumed alcohol, nor had he used drugs.

As for how the accident happened, he said: “The driver saw the limiter, hit it with the antenna, heard it when he hit it and braked. After braking, the bus moved for two meters, as a result of which the air conditioner on the roof hit the limiter. That’s how the accident happened.”

As for whether the driver was tired, he replied that he was not, the coach made several stops along the way. “I met him at the police, psychologically he is not well, he is miserable, he does not eat, he is a simple person” said Mr. Matthaiou.

When asked if he was running, the lawyer answered in the negative and added that the owner of the company speaks in the best words about the driver and says that he is a very calm person.

Mr. Matthaiou concluded by saying: “If the material the barrier was made of was light and lifted automatically at the first touch, today we would not be talking about this tragedy.”

When asked why the driver took that route he replied that “the gps put him there and he got into the lane”.
