New Year’s Eve with rapid test and sweeping tests – The emergency plan under the fear of Omicron

by

Even within the day, the government’s decisions for rapid tests for the vaccinated and the sick are expected to be announced in order to enter indoors on New Year’s Eve.

The government spokesman clarified yesterday that if the measure of rapid tests for the vaccinated and the sick is finally approved, the cost will be borne by the citizens themselves.

At the same time, the “anti-Omicron” plan is already in full swing with at least 10,000 police officers and control bodies of other bodies that will carry out sweeping inspections throughout the festive days for the implementation of the measures.

In our country, the Omicron mutation of the coronavirus may not have spread as in other European countries, however, the confirmed cases amount to 26 and experts estimate that the actual cases in the community are much more.

“No” to lockdown and school closure

“We will do both Christmas and New Year, there are no thoughts to impose restrictions that refer to a lockdown”, said yesterday to SKAI the Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris, giving the stigma of the government’s intentions.

At this stage, there is no thought in government about lockdown or closing schools.

However, the possibility is open after the end of the festive season if it is deemed necessary to close the restaurants and nightclubs earlier.
