This is the true face of the Greek Police, underlines the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos with his post on twitter
The Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, met with the two police officers of the Immediate Action, who saved with CPR, an infant who suffered a seizure during his transfer from Kokkinia to the Children’s Hospital.
After this meeting, he posted on social media, stressing that “the true face of ELAS is humanity, solidarity, efficiency”.
In detail, the post of Mr. Theodorikakos:
“In this shocking case I can’t find the right words to describe what I really feel. A big thank you to Giorgos Dimopoulos and Nikos Flessas, two worthy officers of the Greek Police, two great people. They saved a 35-day-old infant. They transferred the baby within 8 minutes from Kokkinia to Paedon. And they gave him CPR in the police car because his heart had stopped! Many congratulations also to the men of the DIAS and ZITA teams for their decisive contribution. This is the true face of the Greek Police: humanity, solidarity, efficiency. Respect, love and support for our police officers who often go beyond themselves for the lives of our fellow human beings”.

The incident was also announced by the Police unionist, Christos Balaskas, with the following post on his Facebook profile:
Immediate action. A big family. This morning at 11:30, the announcer of the D change of A.D. received an emergency call about a newborn baby boy, the grandson of A’s immediate action change colleague, who had no contact with the environment. A 8-1 of the D change received the signal and in a minute they were on the spot. The mother and the baby got into the patrol car because every second counted and there was no time to wait for the EMS. During the transfer the baby suffered a seizure and bruised. Then the attendant of the patrol car grabbed the little boy and started to carpa him and give him the kiss of life, on the move. The colleague in question was fortunately knowledgeable about the method and although he had never done this on a baby before, magically the infant started breathing and coughing. The miracle had happened. From Kokkinia in less than 8 minutes the patrol car with the help of two-wheelers was at the children’s hospital. His life had been saved. The grandfather has been a direct worker for 35 years as A 9-1/A and is retiring this year. He addressed his family. In immediate action. Congratulations to the driver of the A8-1/D shift for his quick drive to the hospital and to the attendant because of which the infant is alive and doing better. Also well done to the cyclists of A.D. for their assistance, as well as the announcer who coordinated the whole operation perfectly. Friend John, your grandson and his twin brother will grow up and you will be happy. Happy new year to everyone. Miracles do happen after all. The child came and went. He is a winner.
