“Green TAXI” action starts – Deadline for applications is 31 December 2023 – How the process works
It starts from January 9 the submission of applications belonging to the program “Green TAXI”through which is subsidized with 22,500 euros the replacement of old taxis with new electric ones. As announced today by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the action’s electronic platform https://prasinataxi.gov.gr is simultaneously being launched where submissions will be made applications until December 31, 2023.
The new action “Green TAXI” with a total budget of 40 million euros, is financed by resources of the Recovery and Resilience Fund with the aim of promoting electrification in the fleet of TAXI vehicles circulating within the Greek territory by replacing approximately 2,000 old and polluting taxis with new pure ones electrical.
With the new program, a subsidy is given to TAXI vehicle owners, for the purchase or leasing of a purely electric TAXI vehicle as well as the purchase and installation of a “smart” electric vehicle recharging point.
The subsidy (ecological bonus) amounts to 40%, with the maximum amount reaching 17,500 euros and the mandatory withdrawal of a TAXI vehicle, being rewarded with 5,000 euros. Special care is also taken for the disabled, families with 3 or more dependent children and young people up to 29 years of age, with a separate surcharge for each category.
In particular, the terms of implementation of the program are as follows:
Beneficiaries of the program
* All owners of TAXI vehicles of category ElJR05 and older, based on the registration.
* Owners are those who own 100% of the vehicle’s registration. In the event of the existence of several shareholders on the license (co-owners / co-owners), the application is submitted by all the beneficiaries.
* Each beneficiary is entitled to purchase or lease a purely electric car with zero C02 emissions (BEV), per license.
* Beneficiaries are obliged to withdraw and destroy the old TAXI vehicle. The subsidy amount for the withdrawal is included in the final amount of the ecological bonus.
* The start date of the eligibility of the expenses is set as December 1, 2021, from which the expenses related to the advance payment for the order of the vehicle are excluded.
Aid amount
I. For purely electric cars (BEV) taxi vehicles, the subsidy amounts to 40% of the Retail Price Before Taxes (RPT), with a maximum amount of 17,500 euros.
II. The mandatory withdrawal of a TAXI vehicle is rewarded with 5,000 euros.
III. The purchase of an “intelligent” electric vehicle recharging point, for installation in a domestic environment or in a company parking lot with private access, is subsidized with a total amount of 500 euros and is optional.
In cases where the license is individual:
i. For the disabled categories, an increase of 1,000 euros is foreseen in the amount of the subsidy for the purchase or lease of an electric TAXI vehicle.
ii. For the categories of families with at least 3 dependent children, an increase of 1,000 euros is foreseen in the amount of the subsidy for the purchase or lease of an electric TAXI vehicle.
iii. For young people up to 29 years of age, who already hold a TAXI vehicle license, an increase of 1,000 euros is foreseen in the amount of the subsidy for the purchase or lease of an electric TAXI vehicle.
In the event that the beneficiaries based on the existing license E.D.X. TAXI vehicle is more than one, and each of them happens to belong to the above special categories, the amount of the surcharge to which he is entitled according to each special category is calculated based on the percentage, which corresponds to him in the existing E.D.X. license. TAXI vehicle.

“The government, faithful to its commitment to effectively promote the green transition, is proceeding with another initiative by launching the “Green TAXI” program with a budget of 40 million euros,” said the Minister of Environment and Energy, Kostas Skrekas and added: “With this we help 2,000 professional TAXI drivers, supporting each of them with 22,500 euros, in order to replace their old vehicle with a new, purely electric one. This will help them save costs, provide better services to their customers and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In this way we support many professionals in practice and at the same time, we come even closer to our national goal for 2030, according to which one in three new vehicles will be electric”.
For her part, the general secretary of Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, Alexandra Sdoukou, said: “The Green TAXI program is a continuation of the plan to promote electric mobility in the country. We have faithfully and consistently followed our planning since 2020, having already achieved tangible and significant results that are reflected in the classifications of electric vehicles, which for the third consecutive year exceed the goals we set in the ESEK. I hope that the program will have the acceptance and success of Moving Electric, thus supporting the reduction of pollutants, sustainable micro-mobility and the gradual transition of transport to climate neutrality”.
