New Azul plane pays homage to Margarida, a Disney character

Azul Linhas Aéreas has just increased its fleet with a new Airbus A320neo. The plane is entirely inspired by the character Daisy, from Disney, and will be part of the line dubbed by the airline as “The Most Magical Fleet in the World”.

Launched in November 2021, the project in partnership with Disney already has three other aircraft: Mickey, Minnie and Donald Duck.

The A320neo model has capacity for 174 passengers and meets an important sustainability demand in the market, which promises to zero CO2 emissions in its entire operation by 2050, with fuel savings and reduced pollutant emissions.

The now four planes inspired by the most famous rats and ducks in the world randomly serve 40 cities on Azul’s air network, just within Brazil.

Pay attention to “randomly”. This means that getting to fly on one of them will be a matter of luck, as it is not possible to issue a specific ticket for decorated planes.

Margarida’s new plane was delivered by Airbus to Azul in November, in Toulouse, France, and has now arrived in Brazil. The report of Sheet got to know him up close.

It has a special painting on the outside, predominantly in pink, with a mouth, eyes, eyelashes and flowers on all sides. The decoration of the interior is more discreet, with prints of the character in the hand luggage compartments.

The in-flight service is the company’s standard, so don’t expect pink drinks or decorated cookies. The only practical difference, for the passenger, is the delivery of themed stickers. Even so, the ride should thrill children and adults alike.

Cinthia Douglas, 40, director of marketing and sales for Latin America at Disney, says that the two companies have an important goal in common, which is to bring the magic of Walt Disney World to all of Brazil, and that the partnership fulfills that.

“Brazil is a very important market for Disney and we will always invest in opportunities to be ever closer to this audience”, he comments.

For Cristina Yoshida, 49, general business manager for Azul and Azul Viagens, the airline’s operator, the partnership also helps to promote tourism and strengthen sales work in Brazil.

Issuance of accommodations, tickets and tours, especially for Orlando parks, has quintupled since its launch.

The contract provides that the partnership will be active for seven years. The two companies do not reveal the amounts invested.
