Victim of theft fell a businessman from Volos who used the Face ID application, for greater security in transactions via his mobile phone and lost 4,000 euros from his account in no time.
Face ID is a facial recognition system that uses biometric features to grant access to specific mobile devices. More simply, by putting the Face ID sensor in front of your face, it recognizes it and unlocks the device.
The businessman received a text message on his mobile phone, from a “client” he had not worked with before, who supposedly wanted to ordering products. He was asked for a specific bank account number in order to repay the amount of the order.
The businessman gave his bank account and immediately the bank sent him a message requesting a withdrawal of 4,000 euros. Panicked, he entered mobile banking through the Face ID application and without being asked for his password opened his personal transaction environment at the bank. At that time he saw 4000 euros disappear to an unknown bank account.
The businessman testified complaint by unknown persons and the Prosecutor’s Office ordered a preliminary investigation.
