Thirteen people lost their lives and 603 were injured (13 seriously, 590 slightly) in 511 road accidents and accidents, which occurred in December, in the Attica region.
According to the Attica Traffic Directorate, the main causes of these traffic accidents were driving without prudence and caution, the violation of regulatory signs and the violation of traffic rules by pedestrians, while the non-use of protective helmets by drivers and passengers of two-wheelers aggravated, in in many cases, the severity of their injury.
At the same time, in the same period of time, in the context of the targeted actions implemented by the Attica Traffic Directorate for traffic policing and upgrading the level of road safety, 16,650 violations were confirmed, of which 563 were misdemeanors.
Indicatively confirmed:
– 466 offenses for driving under the influence of alcohol, of which 47 were misdemeanors
– 1,445 speed limit violations
– 118 offenses for violating a red light
– 393 violations for mobile phone use
– 602 violations for not using a seat belt
– 345 offenses for not wearing a protective helmet and
– 37 violations for dangerous maneuvers.
