Crete: They found a greenhouse with 744 hash trees and 30 kg of cannabis – 5 people were arrested

A coordinated police operation organized by police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Security Sub-Directorate of Heraklion and developed in Heraklion and Rethymno was completed today 05/01 in the morning.

The result of the operation was the arrest of five (5) persons (3 citizens and 2 foreigners) – members of a group active in the cultivation of cannabis seedlings and the possession and trafficking of cannabis accused of forming a criminal group and violations of the Legislation on narcotic substances and, as the case may be, violations of the Legislation on weapons.

In particular, in the context of special actions of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete, for the dismantling of criminal groups active in the cultivation of cannabis seedlings and drug trafficking and following investigation and utilization of information by the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Security Sub-Directorate of Heraklion, regarding the action of a group, active in the cultivation of cannabis and the trafficking of significant quantities of narcotics, a coordinated police operation was organized and carried out.

Police officers from the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Security Sub-Directorate of Heraklion, the Department of the Special Repressive Anti-Terrorist Unit of Crete, the Police Operations Departments of Heraklion and Messara, the Heraklion Crime Suppression Prevention Team and other Police Services of the Rethymno Police Department participated in the operation.

During the operation, an investigation was carried out in a greenhouse in the area of ​​the Municipality of Agios Vassiliou, where two cannabis plantations were found to be diligently cultivated, consisting of a total of seven hundred and forty-four (744) cannabis seedlings in the development stage, which were uprooted and confiscated. In addition, a specially designed area was located in the greenhouse which was used as a drying room, where a total of thirty kilograms and one hundred and fifty grams (30,150) of raw cannabis were found and confiscated. The foreigners were found and arrested in the above area.

In searches carried out in the homes of the nationals, the following were found and confiscated in total:

• 9 Hunting weapons,
• 23 cartridges,
• 3 cell phones and
• the sum of 200 euros as proceeds from illegal activities
• In addition, three vehicles were seized as means of committing illegal acts.

The preliminary investigation is carried out by the Narcotics Prosecution Department of the Security Directorate of Heraklion.
