Thirteen arrests in ELAS special operations in Western Attica – Military rifles, weapons, cartridges and a mortar shell were seized
ELAS made 13 arrests during special operational actions, which took place yesterday, Wednesday, January 4, in the wider area of Western Attica to prevent and fight crime.
The police operations involved forces from the West Attica Police Directorate, Attica Security Directorate/Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate, OPKE, Direct Action Directorate/DIAS Team, Attica Police Operations Directorate, West Attica Security Sub-Directorate, E.K.A. M. and involvement of police dogs.
3 of the arrests were for drug offences, the same number for weapons, 2 for criminal documents and 5 for traffic offences.
According to ELAS, a total of 192 person checks, 103 vehicle checks, 27 arrests and 7 vehicle immobilizations were carried out as part of the operations.
At the same time, in house searches, carried out in the presence of a judicial officer, a total of: 2 military rifles, 3 binoculars and a rifle silencer, 6 weapons (two guns, two air guns, a revolver and a stun gun), a mortar shell, 352 shell casings and cartridges of various calibers, were seized. 2 bats (metal and wooden), as well as small amounts of drugs.
As far as confiscated weapons are concerned, they will be sent to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations for laboratory examination and the narcotic substances to the Chemical Service of Athens. Those arrested are taken to the competent prosecuting authority.
