The progress of the trial, which is entered with number 1 on the court docket, is doubtful as the lawyer of the 34-year-old defendant Alexis Kougia, reportedly intends to ask for the postponement of the trial citing mainly strong obstacles with ongoing trials that he is attending. Thus, the process is not expected to proceed even if the court rejects Mr. Kouya’s request, it is considered more likely to interrupt another trial.

Georgina survived that time, but she had suffered hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy with the result that, according to the case file, “she changed from a healthy little girl to a completely disabled person and now a “burden” for the everyday life and development of the defendant’s life, especially after his father’s substantial removal from her”.
At the same time, Georgina experienced unbearable, traumatic events with the loss of her two younger siblings who “went to heaven”: first the 3.5-year-old Malena in April 2019 at the “Aglaia Kyriakou” Hospital, and then the only six-month-old Irida in March of 2021 at the family home. The baby was sleeping in the same room as Georgina and appears to have died of suffocation. The 34-year-old is also accused of the deaths of the two younger girls and her plea is pending.

The little girl “couldn’t successfully protect herself from an attack by her own mother. Even more so during the final attack against her after her disability, to which the defendant condemned her…” is pointed out in the case file, which refers in “heartless extermination” of the child.
In addition to the scientific data, which the 34-year-old disputes, and the testimonies included in the case file, the judges who sent Roula Pispirigou to trial place great emphasis on the personality of the accused, as they consider that the motivation arises from her special characteristics of its actions, but also the management of their consequences. “There seems to be an idealization of death, which forever abolishes the idea that the other person is another. And so he does not enter into mourning and pain,” says the specialist scientist who, as an expert, met the 34-year-old twice in prisons.
They judge her as a particularly dangerous person with “insolence, intense anti-sociality, indifference to human life”.
The defendant herself denies what is attributed to her, claiming that the doctors, and not herself, administered ketamine to her first-born daughter “I completely deny the accusation attributed to me, I never sought, desired or caused the death of my child. No mother she cannot harm her own child. Georgina was my first child and she was my greatest weakness,” she said in her apology to Anakritria.
