Father Antonios is asked to refute the serious complaints of children who were accommodated in the structures of the Ark

The time is now counting down for the explanations of the founder of the Ark of the World NGO to the Juvenile Prosecutors who have summoned him today Monday to testify as a suspect for committing crimes of great criminal and moral turpitude against minor children.

Father Antonios is called upon to refute the serious complaints of children who were accommodated in the structures of the Ark. Complaints about sexual acts but also about heaps of abusive and offensive behavior, for which the two Juvenile Prosecutors, Aikaterini Kopelaki and Dafni-Kyriaki Tsichli, who are investigating the case, are asking for his answer, before deciding on their next moves.

The priest will probably not come to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office himself, but through his lawyers he will receive copies of the case file and request a deadline for his deposition.

The subpoena sent to father Antonio concerns the felony of indecency against a minor on a continuing basis, in the degree of a felony, with the case file including two cases of guest boys. At the same time, he is asked for explanations for the crime of moral culpability in bodily harm to weak persons in a series.

The charge of indecency under investigation concerns the complaints of a 19-year-old, today, former guest at Kivotos’ house in a town in the province, and a 15-year-old boy.

The adult today reporting sexual violence was allegedly found in the structure of the Ark at the age of 6 and left there some time ago. According to information, in the statements he gave to the authorities, the adult complainant describes specific incidents of sexual acts by the priest in the form of harassing gestures on his body, which he had to endure every day, as he claims, as he was afraid that if he reacted there would be consequences his mother and younger brother who lived in an NGO apartment.

The controlled cleric himself does not accept and strongly disputes the complaints against him, while in his recent statements on a television show he said that he did not betray those who love him and that he knows “the crucifixion and martyrdom path to Golgotha” the end of which, as he said “it is the resurrection first before God and then before men”.

The investigation of the case by the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office began last November after complaints of food in the Ark structures were made public. The two Prosecutors who are conducting the investigation seem to have at their disposal more than 20 depositions, which mainly describe incidents of brutal behavior by the staff of the NGO against children.

It should be noted that in addition to the priest, seven employees of Kivotos were also summoned for explanations as suspects for abusive behavior against guests in the NGO’s structures, who will request a new deadline for their explanations.

Three of the employees who have received subpoenas from the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office come from Kivotos premises in Athens, two from Chios and the other two from Volos.

Six of them are summoned to testify as suspects of causing bodily harm to children, (against weak persons) while the seventh summons, to a female employee, concerns the offense of exposing a minor to danger. The employee, of a provincial structure, is being investigated as she allegedly did not take an injured child to a doctor or hospital, as she was required to do in her position. The acts examined for the employees are misdemeanors and concern the last three years, specifically the period 2020 to 2022.
