The child was transported by ambulance from Drama to the “Megas Alexandros” airport of Kavala and from there to the hospital in Athens
A two-year-old boy was airlifted to the Athens Children’s Hospital “Panagioti and Aglaia Kyriakou” last Saturday night (January 7), who was intubated at the general hospital in Drama, due to a serious respiratory infection he was dealing with.
The child, thanks to the efforts of all involved, was transported by EKAV ambulance from Drama to the “Megas Alexander” airport of Kavala and then, with absolute safety and accompanied by a pediatrician and an anesthetist, to the hospital in Athens where he is being treated.
The news about the airlift came to the public through a post on the social media page of Haris Lotis, director of the 6th and 9th EKAV Regions, who wrote the following: “E.K.A.V. air transport department, coordination center of the 6th EKAV Region, E .K.E.P.Y of Northern Greece, General Hospital of Drama and crews of E.K.A.B. When the chains of Health are a punch then the result for the 2-year-old boy is as expected… thank you.”
The General Hospital of Drama also issued a statement, in which the following are mentioned: “We all wish the best for the restoration of the child’s health. We thank everyone who contributed to the safe outcome of the preparation, management and transport of the little patient.”
