New measures to prevent and delay the spread of the Omicron mutation are being taken by the government following a proposal by the Committee of Experts, which will be announced today, Thursday, December 23rd.
According to the experts’ suggestions, an immediate implementation of a first package of measures is envisaged, while the Commission is working on a network of measures that will be implemented after the holidays.
According to information, the recommendations of the experts provide for the immediate implementation of the following measures:
- Cancellation of all mass festive events in open spaces (festivals, events etc)
- Indoor matches for fans
- Mandatory tests (rapid or PCR) for travelers coming to Greece, at all gates of the country on the 2nd and 4th day after their arrival
- Mandatory use of mask indoors and outdoors even if there is no overcrowding
- Mandatory mask of increased protection KN95 or double in supermarkets and Public Transport.
In addition, it is expected that next week the Commission will discuss again in view of the additional package of measures for after the holidays.
Among those put on the table were restrictions on the operation of hours in catering and entertainment, restrictions on people per sq.m. in closed spaces and expansion of teleworking.
